The Sound of Deez

Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 September 2026

The short version

Everything below explains the same thing in more detail, including who processes data on our behalf and how to get yours removed.

1Who we are

Sound of Deez is a product of Built On Dreams LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Built On Dreams LLC. If you have a question about anything here, write to ddonald@soundofdeez.com.

2What we collect

We collect very little, and only where we need it to sell you software and keep it working.

WhatWhenWhy we need it
Email address You join the mailing list, or you buy something To send your download link and licence, and product news you asked for
Name You buy something Your licence file is issued in your name, which is how we can identify it as yours
Purchase record You complete a checkout To confirm what you bought so you can re-download it and get support
Licence record A licence is issued to you So we can re-issue your licence if you lose it, and revoke it if a purchase is reversed
Server logs Any visit or download Ordinary security and reliability logging kept by our hosts

Specifically, the record we keep against a purchase is: the checkout session reference, a licence identifier, your name and email, which products the licence covers, the signed licence file itself, the date it was issued, and whether it has been revoked.

3Payment information

We never see your card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record for these sales — Stripe takes the payment, handles tax, and is the party your card statement will show. Your card number, security code and billing address go to Stripe and are never transmitted to us or stored on our systems. What we receive back from Stripe is a confirmation that a particular checkout was paid, along with the email address used. Stripe handles that data under its own privacy policy.

4What the plugins do and don't do

This is the part most people want to know about, so it is worth being precise.

The plugins do not connect to the internet. Licence checking is done entirely offline: each plugin carries a public key compiled into it, and it verifies the signature on the licence file sitting on your own disk. There is no activation server, no phone-home, no heartbeat, and no check-in. If your machine is permanently offline, the plugins still work.

No audio ever leaves your computer. The plugins process sound locally, like any other audio plugin. We receive no recordings, no project data, no presets, and no information about what you make.

No usage data is collected. We do not know which plugins you open, how often, or on what. Our systems contain a table designed to record activations, but it is deliberately empty and nothing writes to it — it exists so that if we ever add activation reporting, doing so is a software change we can announce, not a silent change to a live database. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and say so plainly before it takes effect.

Machine identifiers

A licence can be tied to the specific computers it is allowed to run on. To do that, each machine derives a short identifier that looks like A1B2-C3D4-E5F6. That identifier is a shortened one-way hash of a device identifier your operating system provides — it cannot be reversed back into your hardware serial numbers, and it identifies a machine rather than a person. It is generated on your computer and compared on your computer. The plugin never transmits it. If you send it to us so we can issue or move a licence, we store it against that licence for that purpose only.

5Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no local storage. It loads no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no fingerprinting, and no third-party scripts of any kind. There is no cookie banner here because there is nothing to consent to. The only outbound connections the site makes are to Kit when you submit the signup form, and to Stripe when you click through to checkout.

6Who processes data for us

We use a small number of established services to run the business. Each holds only what it needs to do its job.

ServiceWhat it doesWhat it holds
StripePayments, merchant of recordYour payment and billing details
KitMailing list and product emailsYour email address and subscription status
CloudflareDownload delivery and licence issuingYour licence record; request logs
VercelHosting for this websiteStandard web server request logs

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing purposes.

7How long we keep things

We keep your licence and purchase record for as long as your licence is valid. That is what lets us re-send your licence when you lose it, or reinstall on a new computer years from now. We keep your email address on the mailing list until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for the short retention periods our hosts apply by default.

8Your choices and your rights

You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to ddonald@soundofdeez.com and we will action it. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to processing, to receive a copy of your data in a portable form, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We honour those requests regardless of where you live.

One honest caveat about deletion. Your licence record is what proves you bought the software. If you ask us to erase it, we can do that — but we will then have no way to verify your purchase, re-issue your licence if you lose the file, or support you on a new machine. We will always tell you this before acting, so you can decide.

To stop receiving emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email we send. It works immediately and you do not need to ask us.

9Children

These products are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.

10Where your data is held

We operate from the United States and our service providers process data there and in other countries where they run infrastructure. If you are outside the United States, submitting your information to us involves transferring it to the United States.

11Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change meaningfully affects what we collect or what we do with it — particularly anything to do with what the plugins report — we will say so directly rather than quietly editing the page.
